Chorus offering up to $800 in an effort to encourage fibre uptake

Take off on a speedy connection with fibre
Thursday, 25 February 2021

Chorus has announced a new incentive to the market to drive Fibre uptake. Up to $800 is the word on the street!

“Fibre. It’s how we internet Now.” True to form, Chorus are standing by their purpose to promote speedy connectivity to Kiwis nationwide by withdrawing its remaining copper line service from September.

The competition is likely to take off even further, with Chorus CEO JB Rousselot announcing to market that they are ramping up the efforts to get customers onto fibre. Internet service providers could get their hands on a whopping bounty of up to $800 if they manage to sign a copper customer onto a Chorus supported fibre plan. It looks like telco tycoons Spark, Vodafone and 2degrees may be in for some work as they happen to house the customers this is aimed at winning back.

Chorus, like so many companies, have seen the impact of COVID-19 with drops in their profit and revenue. With less people coming to live in New Zealand, the demand for fibre connections has slipped with it but the passion for fibre progression has not. Fibre offers a speedier connection and is better suited to households wanting to do more online, at the same time, without slowing anyone down. If you like streaming, work from home, game or just download a lot - fibre might be the right choice for you.

Consumers will notice other offers being promoted already this year, with Vodafone and Spark pushing their fixed-wireless product as more cost effective and easy for the typical kiwi. Following on from that, Vodafone have launched 5G with trend adopters being attracted to the new technology.

Chorus have been working in the community to educate consumers on why fibre is a good choice for some time, with technology always evolving education has become a big need for household decision makers. Chorus have been working with our team at Broadband Compare to assist in supporting consumers to make a fully informed choice around fibre, no matter the preference in internet.
